Female Vampire Bust - Page 1

I've been wanting to do a female vampire for sometime now, so I thought that I would start off with a simple bust. I started this quickly this afternoon, and plan on working on it at lunchtimes at work. I know she doesn't look too vampy yet, but she will....

I haven't been feeling too inspired by the other character I've been trying to work on in my lunches and besides, this should go pretty quickly.

I wasn't going to post this just yet because of the early state that it's in, but anyway. The mesh is based on my zombie girl model and the base texture on a early version of that same character

These are quick screengrabs form ZBrush (thus the weird perspective). I've basically just started fleshing out the meat of the character.

 
 
The nipple texture needs a bit of work as it looks kind of strange in these shots. I also think it has something to do with the texture tightening up in ZBrush when I sub-divided the mesh.

I've mainly been testing some materials for her. I was originally contemplating using a realtime shader so I started mucking about with ShaderFx, which is pretty good. I then decided to give Vray a go, but also decided to go with standard Max materials. So far I think they look pretty decent, but there is still some tweaking to be done.

Aside from that there is the following that needs to be worked on:

- hair still needs a few extra layers for thickness and some work on areas of the alpha maps. There is still no specular on the hair either;
- I need to pose here;
- I also want to add in the blood, etc.
- her make-up still needs work;
- a few small texture seam problems need sorting to;
- I'll need to optimise her a bit as well.

There are probably still a few other areas that could get worked on. I was also considering some jewelry around her neck.

I've also done the teeth which should be visible when she is finally posed.

Anyway, until then....

She's almost done now. I think I'm about 95% there. I've also made another pose of her, which I still need to tweak (I'll post that along with the final version of her).

I also still need to optimise her amongst a few other things.
 
 
 
I'm very happy with the way the skin shader has turned out. I've used all standard max materials as well as the scanline renderer (yep there is a bit of texture stretching going on which I'll sort out).

I've finally finished optimising her now. I've also sorted out the textures, so that they are only on two texture sheets now (1024x1024 for the body and a 1024x512 for all the hair, etc.)

I might just put her in a second pose now and then do all the final renders and post her in my finished gallery.

Okay... so I'm a bit anal. Just after posting this I decided that there were a few polys in the chest area that could be removed... so I removed them...
