Zombie Girl - Page 2

05 November 2006

My first normal map test on the zombie girl. It's still in the very early stages, as I'm still busy Zbrushing her (I'd say she's about 40% done in Zbrush).

Still lots to be done.... but I think she's looking quite decent at this early stage.

I'm also looking forward to adding some SSS and specular maps to her. At the moment I'm using the default Max 8 Normal Bump shader, so nothing fancy yet, as it's just a quick test.

A very small update on the torso- nothing significant, just some minor clean up and fixes. I'll also start softening upthe muscles a bit as they are perhaps a bit too hard and defined.

I've also realised that there will most likely be quite a bit of texture cleaning up to do once I have finished with the ZBrush modeling.

I actually got back do working on her at work during my lunch hour . Mostly I've been sorting out some of the anatomy. Still a small bit to do and then I can start puting it all together, and finally sign her off!!

The muscles are still a bit too defined for my liking, though she is a zombie, I will soften them a bit.

Lately I've been mostly working on the high poly ZBrush model. I also added some detail for a wound on her right ankle (I'll post close-ups on that a bit later).

I also go around to sorting some of the texture work out on the skin- though there are still a whole bunch of fix ups to be made. Which also brings me to the subject of zombifying her as she looks quite healthy here... I should have more on that later on.

The next burning question is whether or not to keep the full figure under the nighty or to chop what isn't visible away? I might go with the latter.

A small hair update. Not too much to show otherwise.

I also did some clean up to the face- softening her features a bit and smoothing off some shapes and hard edges.

I think at this stage I mainly have a load of texture clean up to do- especially on the fingers and toes (that's gonna be fun *sighs*).

I think the hair is turning out quite well. The stark contrast of the black against the skin seems to be working well.

Hopefully sometime soon I'll also start zombifying her...

It's been a bit slow lately. I started zombifying her about two weeks ago. I began with the veins and then moved on to the eyes and discolouration of the skin. I've been working on the bruising for the past few nights. Still lots to do there but it's starting to take shape.

I'm not too keen on the over saturated feel of the nighty, so I might still work on that. I'll possibly desaturate it so that it's less golded yellow and closer to an off white.

Once I'm happy with the bruising I'll move onto some sores and scratches (she already has a bite mark on her upper left arm, which isn't too visible in the shots below). I'll then start applying some dirt and grime and then it's onto the BLOOD!!!

You can see some of the older progress I made on her at CGTalk that I never got around to posting here.

I doubt you'll see any of her private bits (though you never know)- I kinda like the idea of creating the character underneath, so that when I decide to I can chop away what I don't need any more.

I really like the way her ass has turned out.... ahem!

I'm close to finishing her off now.... though, there is still much to be done (dirt, more veins, fix specular maps, various touch-ups, lighting, the base, etc....).

I've added in a pair of panties which I think have turned out quite well. Though they seem to have created a problem of their own- I dont' really want to hide them under the nighty now, as my original plan wasn't to have them really visible- they were to be covered up by the nighty. I was thinking of tearing the nighty up a bit more to have them more visible but that sorta goes against what I initially set out to create... AAAARGH!!!! What to do?

I also added some smaller scratches and sores to her lower legs as I was kinda thinking that she has perhaps been shuffeling through a forest and bushes. I'll also build her base to reflect that, otherwise I'll remove the scratches if I decide on a different base.

I desturated the nighty, so that it appears a lot less yellow/gold than before. I'm going to start fraying the lower edges of the fabric as well as add some vertical folding in. I also need to model in the large creases on the back of the nighty as they are still very flat and are only really relying on the normal map at the moment.

Anyway.... next onto the blood and nighty and few other things... and then perhaps back to the panty dilemma.
